Parents

You’ll see it all over this site but it’s worth repeating: parents are the single biggest influence on their children. As a parent, you’re the a teacher, provider, protector, support system and so much more, all wrapped into one. No wonder you’re the biggest influence on your child!

That influence is what makes it so important for you as a parent to talk to your child about alcohol, with your words and your actions. They look to you for guidance. They trust what you have to say. They watch you and learn from your behaviours.

So be aware of the messages you’re sending. Be informed with facts about alcohol so you can give your child solid information. And above all, be honest. You don’t have to have all the answers. Take some time and find those answers together with your child. The time you spend together will only make your influence stronger.
